Employment

St Mary’s is a co-educational school with mainly single stream classes.  Occasional circumstances require composite and multi-age groupings to be considered as part of the schools operation.

Within each class there is the opportunity for multi- age groupings with cross-age and peer tutoring.  The co-operative learning mode of organising students is actively encouraged.

Generally classes at St Mary’s are organised in a lock-step progression, that is, children of a similar chronological age are educated in the same class and usually progress to the next year level at the completion of one academic year.  If, for whatever reason, there is a need to change this structure, changes will be implemented after consultation with the Catholic Education Office, the School Board and Parents.

The staff at St Mary's are expected to:

Provide a secure, creative environment to stimulate the child’s intellectual and emotional growth, by providing meaningful, worthwhile and interesting programs.

See that the child’s academic progress keeps pace with his/her and society’s changing needs.

Be loyal, consistent, Christian, responsible, approachable and totally professional at all times.

Lead the children through examples and teaching to a greater love and knowledge of God.

Discuss with parents expectations for their children, and any matters which are relevant to the educational, physical or social development of their children.

Be aware of the changing face of education through professional development.
