Reconciliation

Reading Recovery is a school-based, early intervention program. Reading Recovery provides a second opportunity for children in Year One who, after one year at school, have not established effective reading and writing processes.
In an average range of twelve to twenty weeks, the great majority of children change from being ineffective readers to being active, independent problem solvers, able to meet the challenges of reading and writing in the classroom.
The Perceptual Motor Programs, though carefully planned movement experiences, provide a means of enabling all children in Prep and Year One, to become more efficient users of their bodies, and at the same time, enhance learning readiness.
Much of the young child’s behaviour is motor-based. From the early sensations of body movement, the child develops a motor-base that is essential to higher levels of learning. From this basic motor foundation the system expands.
The program runs for six weeks each term and is coordinated by the Prep and Year Once teachers. Parents of Prep and Year One children will be asked to assist the teachers in the development of the program. A time allotment of 30 minutes each morning is allocated to the program.
